Maria (Pulk) Burns, 83, passed away on November 22, 2016 in Carrollton, TX. She was born on December 30, 1932 to Johann and Adelheid (Plank) Pulk in Enns, Austria.

Maria was born and raised in Austria and moved to Boston at the age of 18. She and her husband then moved to Fort Benning, GA and later on to Mabank, TX and Seagoville, TX before finally making their home in Mesquite. Maria was extremely proud of her Austrian roots and loved to wear her native dress, a dirndl glatter to many celebrations and events during her lifetime. She also enjoyed crocheting slippers and hats for her family, friends and local nursing homes. Maria never forgot anyone’s birthday and would always mail them a card, which was a joy to those that were fortunate to receive one. She also will be remembered for her unshakeable Christian beliefs and loved to teach Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Maria’s greatest pleasure in life was her family, in which she loved and was loved immensely.

Preceding her in death are her parents, four brothers, two sisters, husband Walter Vernon Burns and daughter Annemarie Pulk.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Maria Burns Hicks and husband, Ronald, sons: Walter Johann “Hans” Burns, Frank Burns and wife Becky and Leslie Burns; stepchildren JoeLee Burns Allen and David Vernon Burns; 18 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren (and one on the way) and numerous extended family members and friends that will miss her dearly.
